Badlands Backstory

In August of 2022, Mel and Jonny drove from Grand Junction, Colorado to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. They were searching for answers to medical mysteries: Jonny had suffered a widow-maker heart attack a couple months after they had launched their bag business. Plus, Covid...

They drove through Badlands National Park with their original TOBIQ bags in the back seat, pulling over to watch the sunset over the ombre cliffs. Then and there, they talked about their dreams of a long, full life of adventure - and maybe of someday making a TOBIQ bag inspired by their Badlands view.

Let's Go: Badlands National Park, South Dakota

Also known as the Land of Stone and Light, Badlands National Park boasts mesmerizing geological formations and one of the world's richest fossil beds. Famous for its stunning sunrises and sunsets, it attracts thousands of photographers and travelers every year. The rich views can be accessed by car, walks, and hikes. Traveling with kids? They have a Junior Ranger program and a Fossil Preparation Lab where you can chat with paleontologists! Enjoy glimpses of wildlife and gaze at the stars under the dark night skies. For more information and specifics, check out the official national park website here.

If you're up for more exploring, pack your TOBIQ bag with a few extra snacks and check out these other areas of interest less than two hours away:

  • Wind Cave National Park
  • Jewel Cave National Monument
  • Custer State Park
  • Crazy Horse Memorial
  • Mount Rushmore National Memorial

Happy adventuring, TOBIQ fam!
