Love it but small

Love it! I can stay so organized while packing, way smaller in person than I was expecting for the price.

Not a Mom but I LOVE this bag!

Wow, I love everything about this bag! Its feel and the organization is on POINT. The fun colorful zipper tabs were a fabulous touch and in my opinion make this bag stand out. I can tell so much thought and time was put into planning this bag and I do believe it will last me a lifetime and accompany me on many journeys. I will never go back to regular suitcases again. So versatile with the backpack and duffel option too. I can see how a mom would greatly appreciate this bag, I am a dog mom and look forward to traveling with one compartment with my pups things too haha. Its way more than enough space for a weekend or two and can't wait to take it on my monthlong trip this summer :) COME ON REI, WE'RE HERE FOR IT! I also admire the great cause behind it too, its more than likely we all know someone affected by cancer, so thank YOU!

Best Travel Bag on the Planet

By far the biggest, baddest, and best quality bag I have owned. I can have my yoga gear, hiking gear, and weekend out gear all in one bag without having to pack and re-pack several times.
The quality of materials is by far the nicest I have seen on any bag I have owned.

Definitely happy with my purchase.

Overall very good purchase, few minor kinks to iron out

Traveling with two small children, this backpack/duffel is fantastic - easy to stay organized between my work compartment, my personal compartment, one kid's entertainment compartment, and a snack compartment plus side pocket for tickets/phone/etc. If anything, there are too many pockets since I forgot about a couple things I'd "cleverly" stashed but that's on me to learn and refine my system.

Build of the black PVC coated is very solid. Having owned half a dozen Tumi products plus half a dozen comparable brands in various sizes/formats and some of the leading backpack brands like Mystery Ranch / Dana Design, quality after several full days of flying is promising. Only immediate area for improvement is the zipper pulls where one was gone after my first flight or two.

Only other suggestion would be to build in a chest strap for the backpack straps. I tried to add an aftermarket chest strap and it of course slid down right away, so anything useful would require a modest investment by Tobiq to stitch some guardrails around one.

In all, very happy with the purchase and really appreciate the personal/family touch with a handwritten note in my shipment - thank you!

Bummer bottom not as expected

So I grabbed this bag and the glacier one to try out.
I had a 4 day trip this past week with my daughter and was able to pack a lot of extra things ( we headed to Chicago and needed warm clothes , summer clothes and even rain attire with how the weather turned out) I had tons of room for all of our stuff and it was very comfortable to wear as a back pack. I have a blown disc in my back and have stopped carrying my duffles cross body while I heal. I had an epidural the day before my trip with this bag and was happy with the weight distribution in the punches.

I'm giving a lower rating to this specific bag since I feel it was misleading.

I purchased this one due to the thicker material and it being water repellent.... When it arrived, I noticed the bottom of the the bag was just the regular canvas- the same that our glacier bag has. Had I known this, I would not have purchased this second bag. I really wanted the bottom durability boost.

The description says :

Strong yet sleek outer body built with black weather resistant, wipeable PVC coated 1000 denier (heavy duty) tarpaulin fabric

I guess "outer body" doesn't include the bottom where you'd actually want that protection :/

So I wouldn't bother spending more on this specific one since the bottom is the same as the other Tobiq bags, but the bag itself is wonderful and helps me to not over pack.

I use it the majority of the time for hockey tournament travel. We put each day of clothes in each opening. The spare opening( I'm typically only gone 3 days) is usually for toiletries , electronics, my child's stuffed animal or blanket she travels with , or cords/laptop (it fit a 17" laptop which shocked me.i don't recommend just because of protection but it did fit.

So if the base was the same water repellent material, I'd have given 5 stars. I'm taking 2 off for that because it was misleading and I basically bought a more expensive bag with no functional benefit. I'm actually really bummed that the bottom of this bag was not completely the PVC coated material. I'm debating sending it back for just another normal black Tobiq bag.

Hey Natalie! Thanks for your awesome feedback. First off, I'm glad you like the glacier. It's built with Cordura brand fabric (we love the durability) and it's color is beautiful. If you find it getting dirty as you travel, I love using Fels Naptha bar and a microfiber cloth to treat the stains, then I throw it in the washer. It works great!

As for your concern about the bottom of the bag, yes we chose a different fabric for the base of the Tarpaulin bag. We did this because we wanted the base to be totally abrasion and puncture resistant. Tarpaulin is amazing for its waterproof and wipeable qualities, but it's not as resistant to poking and rugged surfaces. We chose the base material because we knew it would be drug around on all sorts of adventures (gravel, rocks, cement, etc. aren't going to hurt the 1000 denier Codra base). The Codra fabric on the base is also treated with a heavy water resistant coating. So, I put it down on the snow or wet surfaces all the time and it doesn't seep through. The only time water came through was when I dipped it in the pool to see how long it would resist water. It soaked through after a couple minutes.
I hope that helps clarify our choices! Thank you so much for your feedback and helping us direct our attention to things our customers notice. It means a lot to me. -Melinda, CEO of TOBIQ
